i’d like to identify as a feminist but there’s such a social stigma that comes with the term “feminism”. as a feminist i don’t value one gender over the other; i don’t hate men and i don’t think women are superior to men, i just believe in women being able to feel empowered just by being women and by being themselves (not to say men shouldn’t be empowered because they are men, because MAN POWER HUH). i also wouldn’t call myself a radical feminist because a lot of radical feminists are fucking insane.
if any woman wants to have long hair or no hair (whether on their head or otherwise), wear burkas or tube tops (but does anyone actually wear tube tops anymore?), conform to any social groups, wear cosmetics, etc., then power to them for finding strength in themselves. if any woman wants to be 250 lbs and wear a bikini, go for it. if you’re 110 and you like sweatpants, go for it.
every woman should feel comfortable with their own body, just like every man.
so when i say “i’m a feminist”, i don’t mean “women are the superior gender”.
what i mean is that i’m against the medias definition of “the perfect woman” or what’s beautiful and what isn’t, because everything is relative, and if i decide to stop shaving my legs and wear something you don’t like, that’s my decision, not yours.
